Chico Commons

Chico Commons is a 72-unit apartment complex located at 2071 Amanda Way (Across from Little Chico Creek Elementary School) in Chico.

Chico Commons provides affordable housing to households who meet the income and selection criteria. The selection guidelines are based upon financial responsibility and behavior history.

Chico Commons is not a conventional public housing project; it does, however, utilize some public funds. It is the result of a joint venture between the Housing Authority of the County of Butte, and other investors. It is controlled by a 7-member Board of Directors under the title of Banyard Management, a non-profit corporation.

The rent structure for Chico Commons is based upon a median income for this Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) published annually in the Federal Register. There are 2 rent tiers for each unit size based upon the median income with a specified number of units for each rent level.

Applicants who also have a Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8 voucher) may be eligible to apply that voucher toward their rent at Chico Commons.

The rents are as follows:

Both the rent levels and income limits are subject to change. Verification of income and assets are done initially and on an annual basis.

Section 8 vouchers are accepted.

Water, hot water, sewer and garbage are provided. Each building has a laundry room with one (1) washer and one (1) dryer.

Security Deposit 1 - bedroom $500
2 - bedroom $600
3 - bedroom $650
Smoking Deposit $200 (additional)
Chico Commons is a no pet property. Guests' pets are also not permitted.
