Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program Wait List
The Wait List is currently closed.

Due to limited funding, not all applicants will be placed on the Wait List. When the Wait list is open, applications are randomly selected and ranked and there is no advantage or disadvantage to applying early. Only one application per head of household will be accepted. All applicants will be notified by mail regarding the status of their application.
How to ApplyWhen the Wait list is opened, the HACB website will be updated to include an online application. A large Blue button will be found on the home page directing you to the Online Application. Follow the instructions and submit your application. When completed, you should receive a confirmation number. Make sure you keep this number as you will need it to check your application status. At the end of wait list open period, the application will be closed and the application will be removed from the website. There will be no advantage to apply early as the applications are randomly selected
Application Process Rules:Applications were last accepted from November 1, 2015 until November 30th, 2015. When the Wait list opens, Only one application per head of household will be accepted. HACB will randomly select 1,200 applications from all applications received, giving the selected applicants a ranking, and adding these to our Section 8 Wait list. Each applicant will be notified by mail if their application was selected for the Wait list. Due to funding, not all applicants will be selected. If your application is selected, your notification letter will give you further instructions. Currently the 2015 Wait list is still being processed, applicants from the 2016 Wait list will be processed when the 2015 list has been depleted. HACB is currently planning on re-opening the wait list annually.
NOTES✓ The application process is free, you will not be asked for payment information.
✓ All applicants from the 2015 Wait List will be selected first prior to 2016 lottery applicants.
✓ Due to limited funding, only 1,200 applications will be selected. The selection process is done electronicly
after the application process has closed. There is no benefit to registering early.
✓ The Wait List rank order will be randomly selected by computer.
✓ The Wait list rankings will be available on this site at the following link: Section-8 Wait List results
✓ All applicants will be notified by mail on whether or not their application was selected.
✓ An online tool will be available for checking if your application has been selected.
✓ A confirmation number will be provided after submitting your applications, Your confirmation number will be
needed to find your position on the Wait List. Please record this number for your records.
✓ The Housing Authority of the County of Butte is not responsible for incomplete applications.
