The Foundation will be new affordable housing for working families, vulnerable seniors, and those with special needs at the corner of East 13th Street and Park Avenue in the City of Chico. The four-story residential building will feature common space that includes a community kitchen, a computer lab, and multipurpose rooms for onsite resident services. To promote healthy living and encourage interaction among residents, a central courtyard will feature outdoor barbecues, seating and recreation areas, a community garden, and a small pet park.
All apartment homes will have balconies, energy-efficient appliances and lighting, plus water-efficient features that provide cost-savings on household utilities – including a solar photovoltaic system designed to reduce monthly electricity costs for residents by up to 50%.
Just minutes from downtown, the location in this southwest Chico neighborhood is convenient to the central plaza, several local schools, dining, shops, and Dorothy F. Johnson Park by walking, car, or bike. The property is adjacent to the bus line on Park Avenue. California State University Chico and Enloe Medical Center are less than two miles from the new affordable housing on Park Avenue. The bike-friendly community will include short- and long-term secured bike parking and bike repair stations for residents.

✓ There will not be any on-site PBV pre-applications and the HACB admin office will not be distributing pre-applications. ALL PRE-APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED ONLINE.✓ Incomplete pre-applications or partially completed pre-applications will not be accepted.

✓ Eligible families will be referred to units subsidized with Section 8 Project-Based Vouchers from the Housing Authority of the County of Butte in partnership with non-profit housing owners. The housing assistance is only available at the designed properties for families meeting the property restrictions as indicated above in the last column of the chart. After twelve months of residency, families will be eligible for a Housing Choice Voucher, subject to availability.
